Theme: Interactions
“Interactions” is the theme of the conference. Based on the Scandinavian research tradition of applied and multidisciplinary research performed in close collaboration with industry, we would like to emphasise the importance of being user-oriented researchers. The main users of Operations Management research are ultimately the practitioners. Our aim is to create value and provide better solutions and innovations for both the industry and society.
We believe that the theme also serves a higher purpose, addressing the European Research Council’s calls for “the innovation union” and “the factory of the future”. Furthermore, the Europe 2020 strategy aims to create smart, sustainable and inclusive growth by supporting the manufacturing and industrial sector in developing new products, services and processes. Interactions between industry, funding bodies and academia are essential to achieve this. We must get together to build and share knowledge, and innovate models and solutions for managing operations. Industry needs the guidance of, and cooperation with, academia. We can only achieve that through interactions.
Our distinguished keynote speakers from industry and academia will address the importance of interactions by sharing their experiences. A special session invites contributions addressing various elements of interactions. And most importantly; when people meet and share a good time, interactions arise naturally. Therefore, the social program of the conference with its events, food and a few surprises will blend in an unforgettable mix of Norwegian culture and tradition.
