The Research Council of Norway

SFI Norman
The Norwegian Manufacturing Future (SFI NORMAN) was established as a strong cross-disciplinary innovation center for research on intelligent manufacturing, eco-friendly manufacturing and knowledge based innovations. SFI NORMAN was hosted by the independent research organization Sintef with Norwegian University of Science and Technology as a key research partner. 14 Norwegian manufacturing companies were involved as industrial partners. Knowledge and solutions for flexible and intelligent production systems, modern control systems and superior logistics were developed as an outcome of the work done in NORMAN center.

NTNU, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology
The Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology offers students a choice of more than 30 engineering programmes. Both two and five year Master of Science programmes are offered, eleven of which are conducted entirely in English. In addition the faculty selects candidates to the doctoral programme through dedicated PhD positions tied to our research agenda and departments. NTNU awards approximately 80% of all advanced engineering degrees in Norway and cooperates closely with industry to ensure that both our research and degree programmes contribute to sustainable development and innovation.

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Management has a research and teaching profile that covers a wide range of subjects in a unique combination of social sciences, humanities, technology and natural sciences. This broad academic spectrum allows cross-disciplinary collaboration and creative subject combinations. The research conducted at the Faculty spans across multiple disciplines. NTNU Sustainability
NTNU Sustainability is one of four strategic research areas at NTNU for the period 2014-2023. NTNU Sustainability’s strategy is to create, “Knowledge for change,” and the programme brings together the best minds from a range of disciplines to create the knowledge needed by society to understand and transition unsustainable patterns of behaviour and development. NTNU Sustainability aims to be an international leader in the integrated and interdisciplinary approach to sustainability, and has therefore designed its research model across four focus areas – Institutional frameworks, Sustainable urban and regional development, Biodiversity and ecosystem services and Environmental and sustainability assessment, and four cross-cutting areas – ICT as an enabling perspective, Ethical perspectives, Sustainable design and business models and land use.
Molde University College
Founded in 1994, Molde University College – Specialized University in Logistics is among the leading institutions in Scandinavia within the field of logistics, offering education on bachelor’s, master’s and PhD-level, as well as bachelor’s and master’s programmes in economics and business administration, management, sports sciences, social sciences and health sciences.

Retail Supply Chain 2020
Retail Supply Chain 2020 is a research project performed by the consortium involving leading Norwegian actors in retail, logistics and technology. It is funded by the partner companies and the Research Council of Norway. The project’s research challenges are linked to the emerging new demand and shopping patterns in the retail sector. The project objective is to develop new knowledge and key competence required to create the next generation supply chain strategies and solutions, and to increase competitiveness of Norwegian food retail supply chains.
